Earth Day Education Event
Hello fellow anthropologists!
I know that Earth Day was nearly a month ago, but I wanted to share my 2023 Earth Day experience!
For Earth Day, I took part in the Upper Main Line YMCA's first ever Earth Day get together. The event lasted several hours and promoted sustainability and environmentalism; the main point of the event was to foster a love and responsibility for our beautiful earth.
I assisted the Litter Lifters of West Vincent as we promoted maintaining a clean environment. At our station, I had an educational activity for young children and adults to take part in. The education event was a recyclable art and crafts activity that used old paper towel rolls to create ladybug and bumblebee toys. My hope was to show kids that even leftover materials can be used to create new innovative things that bring smiles to other people's faces. I believe that they learned that anything can be recycled and even upcycled if effort and attention is put into doing so.
